The Best Off Season Training For Golfers

I have been involved in the golf instruction business for over 20 years along with having a good understanding for fitness relative to the golfswing.

Go to http://elitegolfperformance.net/golf_fitness/#top     to understand how we train and what we train along with seeing for yourself the level of golf athletes we've had success with..

Not all exercises are good for golf and very little research has been done with hitting balls and training. We have done all this training in all styles of fitness along with testing exercises that work and that do not work.

Some exercises look great and cool and even very close to a golf swing, but unfortunately are useless  and some might even say garbage for the golfswing.

The best training simply are lifts that require your entire body to move weight, be careful not to overtrain the upperbody. Strong Legs, Strong Core and Mobile Upper Body is the overall goal

Martial arts are really good for overall joint mobility and strength. Muay Thai, grappling and Tai Chi would be considered my top three.

If martial arts is not your thing, look for full body functional training gyms that don't over train with heavy weights. Crossfit which is good in many areas of fitness IMO is terrible for golfers, due to injuries and overtraining. Also Crossfit develops in many people a lack of coordination, note that I did not say all people. I've worked with many golfers training in crossfit over the years and really not many of them were any good at golf and or were really struggling with their games since crossfit training. Golf fitness is very unique and too much or too little will be bad for the game and or the wrong training can lead to negative results on the course as well.

IMO nothing has ever been as effective as The Art Of Strength training for golfers. The testing we've used and have seen is amazing on and off the course
