Power Vs Accuracy On The PGA Tour

Fans of the PGA Tour are learning that Power wins on the PGA Tour over accuracy on a week to week basis. The reason is the Power hitters can do everything that an accuracy player can do, but the accuracy player can't do all the things a Power player can do...

Don' t think that a Dustin Johnson, JB Holmes and Bubba Watson ect  are not accurate first and foremost. These guys are deadly accurate and repeatable, but they understand that Power has a big accuracy component attached to it and that is a shorter club into the green on every hole on the course. This means they have a 72 hole advantage over the short hitters of the game.

These players have ball speeds up and over 177 mph and their misses relative to their speeds is what makes them so dangerous. The stats don't tell the whole truth about power hitters as it will show they only hit 55% of the fairways in general. This is a stat that misleads the amateur golfer the reason being is that they are carrying the ball 310 yards plus and when they miss the fairways it's usually by a very small amount. If this player wants to hit a higher percentage all they would have to do is hit a driving iron or fairway wood and they would lead the accuracy stats.

I could go on and on about why Power beats Accuracy, but I don't need to just watch the PGA Tour every week and see for yourself. Power that has big misses is not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about the elite of the elite which are the guys who bomb the ball and really control their ball.

The best ball strikers on tour not relative to stats are IMO:

1. Dustin Johnson
2. Rory Mcilroy
3. JB Holmes
4. Bubba Watson
5. Daniel Berger
